Fish recipes -
healthy eating made delicious!

If you need a reason to use fish recipes, here it is: eating fish on a regular basis is good for you! Fish is high in protein and relatively low in fat. It's also a source of many vitamins and minerals. Eating fish regularly - as often as two to three times a week - may even reduce your risk of heart disease.

However, for years I ate fish only in restaurants because I had no idea how to cook it myself. I had the idea that cooking any kind of seafood was mysterious, and that only "good cooks" could do it well.

Of course, all I needed was a few great fish recipes! (You'll find a few of my favourites at the bottom of the page.) Now that I have them, I know that fish makes great quick meals. I love cooking fish - and eating it!

Fish is the answer for a cook in a hurry because it cooks so fast! You can steam or pan-fry fish in as little as ten minutes! (The exact time will depend on the thickness of the fish.)

I always use fish fillets because they are the easiest: there are usually no bones to worry about (but always check just in case!) In my area, I can usually find sole, basa, cod and snapper. I don't have a favourite; once they are dressed up, to be honest, I can't tell one from another!

Don't overcook your fish! You may be surprised by how quickly it cooks. Here's how to test for doneness: if the fish is opaque (no longer see-through) and it flakes easily with a fork, it's probably done. You can also press it with a finger. If your finger leaves a dent, or if the fish is still a bit "squishy", it's not quite cooked.

Here are some of my favourite fish recipes.

Cheesy Baked Fish is easy to prepare and tastes great!

In the mood for fish sticks? Fish Sticks Parmesan are tastier and healthier than packaged fish sticks, but take almost no more time to make.

If you're planning a special meal, try serving Baked Fish with Creamy Dill Sauce - one of my favourite fish recipes. Your guests will never guess how quick this dish is to prepare!

Even the most inexpensive fish fillets taste wonderful when you use them in Savory Tomato Fish Fillets.

Are you rushed? Tired? Easy Salmon Loaf might be just what you need.
