Homemade Salad Dressing

Why make your own homemade salad dressing? There are lots of good reasons!

  • Homemade salad dressing is healthier than prepared dressings.

Just read the label on most bottled dressings and you'll quickly see what I mean. Most are full of sugar and salt, not to mention the unpronounceable preservatives and additives. I like knowing that my healthy salad dressing contains nothing but the nutritious ingredients I put in it.

  • Homemade dressing is more economical.

Combining a few simple inexpensive ingredients creates a delicious dressing, every bit as tasty as the expensive ones in the store.

  • Making your own is less wasteful.

Have you ever bought a huge economy bottle of salad dressing, only to throw it out when it passed its "best before" date? Making your own dressing means that you'll never need to throw away dressing again! You'll make just as much as you need.

  • Making your own dressing is better for the environment.

There's no need to pack, transport, and dispose of plastic or glass bottles.

  • Making your own salad dressing is fun and easy!

In most cases all you do is put some ingredients in a jar, close the jar tightly, and shake it vigorously.

  • Homemade salad dressing tastes wonderful!

You can buy a fancy bottle for your dressing, but you don't need to. When you finish your current bottle of store-bought dressing (which may be the last one you every buy!), just save the bottle, wash it out, and use it for your first delicious batch of homemade.

Here are a few of my favorite dressings.

  • Apple Cider Vinegar Salad Dressing is a good, basic dressing. If you need an all-purpose dressing that everyone will enjoy, try this one.

  • If you are a lover of balsamic vinegar like I am, you'll want to try this easy Balsamic Vinegar Salad Dressing.

  • I call this all-purpose dressing The Only Dressing. It's not only a great salad dressing, but can also be used as a marinade or a dip! You'll find the recipe in "A Day Of Blender Recipes".

  • This Orange Vinaigrette is a versatile sauce. As well as being a wonderful salad dressing, it's tasty on vegetables - and even on pasta!

  • Do you prefer a creamy salad dressing? You'll enjoy this simple Yogurt Dressing.
